SMS consent is not required to use Seashell. You can create an account, start a Legend, and send or receive a family question by email with no text messages. Declining SMS does not block the app, a purchase, or a question.

What the texts are

• Transactional family-question invitations only. No marketing, no 2FA codes.

• Frequency depends on how often a family member sends a question.

How optional SMS looks in the app

Owners who already have an account can choose Email, Text message, or both. Email works with the SMS box left unchecked. That Send screen is behind sign-in, so the same optional checkbox is shown here:
